How to choose the right headboard for your bedroom

Our absolute best advice is to go by gut feeling or love at first sight. Which shape do you like the most? It doesn't have to be more difficult than that. If you're in love with several at the same time (that's okay), then there are some tips to take with you.

Loved the Cotswolds , one of Ylses personal favorites and our most ordered headboard. Inspired by the bedrooms of the British countryside, this headboard adds an elegant and majestic feel to your bed. Works just as well in the master bedroom as in the nursery. If you have a bigger bed, maybe 210cm, the Cotswolds will make it feel smaller.

Beautiful Mayfair . A fairy-tale shape that makes any bedroom feel homely and cosy. Master, child or guest; Mayfair does not favor. Do you know we found it in Mayfair? If you have a larger bed, perhaps 210 cm, the Mayfair will make it feel smaller.

Elegant Provence . One of our most sophisticated shapes, a piece of French elegance. Already a bestseller thanks to Swedish Mathilda Djerf who was early to order this particular shape. Let your bedroom be seduced by Provence's stylish but daring form. If you have a pitched ceiling that ends above the bed, we recommend Provence so the upper line of the gable runs parallel to the line of the wall.

Stylish Österlen. Minimalistic, timeless and Scandinavian. With its straight silhouette and minimalist aesthetic, this headboard brings a sense of calm and harmony to your bedroom. If you have a sloping ceiling that ends above the bed, we recommend Österlen so that the upper line of the gable runs parallel to the line of the wall.

3. Choose the right fabric: Create harmony and dare to shock

 

Ylses' tip is to dare to shock. It is often the unexpected combinations that create that wow feeling.

When you choose the color and pattern of your headboard, you should think about the overall design of the bedroom. If you have a lot of color and pattern on the walls and textiles, a simple and plain headboard can create balance. Conversely, a patterned or colorful headboard can become an interesting contrast in an otherwise neutral room.

4. Choose the right piping: Frame your headboard with piping

 

Make your headboard more unique and frame it with piping in the classic furniture tradition. Ylse offers classic piping in fabric, velvet or self-sewn in the same fabric as the headboard.

Classic fabric piping is available in a range of colours. Highlight the shape of the headboard and create beautiful contrasts by choosing piping in a different color to the headboard. Maybe an accent color from the fabric's pattern?

All our headboards are created and sewn by hand in our studio in Stockholm. Each headboard is tailored to your bedroom, according to your wishes. It costs more than a mass-produced headboard.

The final price of your headboard will vary depending on the fabric you choose. We divide our fabrics into A, B & C categories. Ylses headboards are mounted on the wall as standard. We also offer a solution with covered legs for those who do not want to attach to the wall.
